Hamilton Estates Homeowners exemplify the spirit of this award program by working together and conducting projects to engage residents and serve not only their neighborhood but the entire Derby community. Robinson was nominated by seven neighbors with the names of 21 more who supported the nomination. The nomination stated: “Melvin does all these things out of the goodness of his heart, and his neighbors appreciate the friendship he brings, his watchful eye and the sense of community that has been developed because of him.” He introduces himself to new residents, helps plant flowers, replaces light bulbs and even takes neighbors to doctor’s appointments. Robinson is known in his neighborhood for his friendly and caring attitude and his efforts to build relationships with his neighbors. “Thank you to Melvin Robinson and the residents in Hamilton Estates for making us Derby Proud.” “We were pleased to learn about all the great things happening in our Derby neighborhoods,” said Randy White, Mayor. The Neighbor of the Year is Melvin Robinson, and the Neighborhood of the Year is Hamilton Estates Homeowners Association. Official presentation of the awards will be made at the Nov.
The City of Derby is happy to announce the winners of the Neighbor and Neighborhood of the Year awards.
